Our context: Costa rica
Costa Rica is located in Central America and is a country with 51,900 Km2 of territorial extension. In spite of being a small country, its great biological diversity approximately constitutes 5% of the wild flora and fauna of the world. This biological wealth is represented in a great extent by its different types of forests, for example the cloudy one, tropical humid and tropical dry one.
The degradation of the natural resources in our country has caused an increasing level of loss of development opportunities, specially in the rural sector. In the province of Guanacaste located to the northwest of the country, is where a great percentage of population in conditions of poverty and extreme poverty and a greater index of deforestation is presented. It was in this region where the project Café Forestal (Forest Coffee) was originated.
