In Tiliran, Guanacaste, 360 small-scale farmers produce 6500 fanegas of premiere quality coffee per year. These producers work on small parcelas of land, no bigger than 3 hectares.

The cooperative has two stores that sell agricultural products, a wet mill with a capacity of 20,000 fanegas, technical assistance services, reforestation projects and a forest protection program which pays the associates 12,000 colones annually for the conservation of each hectare of primary forest.

Coopetila also produces macadamia nuts and exports close to 7000 kilograms of Macadamia nuts per month to the USA.

The cooperative is working to produce their own organic soil and hopes to generate energy for the mill and the dryers through burning the husks of the macadameia nuts and the coffee beans in order to avoid unnecessary deforestation.
