Meet some of the students who have received scholarships from Hijos del Campo:

Hector Luis Mesen Aguilar

Hector lives in Palmital and is a student at Liceo Miramar. He has received two scholarships from Hijos del Campo which helped him pay for his school supplies, uniform and food throughout the year. Hector is very committed to his studies and gets up bright and early to get to school. His bus leaves at 4:30 a.m. and the trip is around an hour and a half each way. In the rainy season the ride is even longer because of the poor road conditions. Hector hopes to continue on to university after high school.

Maria del Carmen

Maria del Carmen lives in Corazon de Jesus, a two hour bus ride away from her high school Liceo Miramar. Her father is a coffee farmer and has been sruggling to support the family especially since Maria's mother became sick, putting an additional strain on the family's financial resources. Maria used her scholarhip from Hijos del Campo to buy her school supplies and uniform.

Sarundana Jimenez Solano

Sarundana is a bright young woman and a very hard worker. She is one of nine children, and as the oldest girl she helps around the house with the cooking, cleaning and getting her younger brothers and sisters ready for school. Sarundana’s mother has had health problems and her father is older in age, as a result her family’s income is limited. She used her scholarship from Hijos del Campo to buy her school supplies, uniform and everything else she needed for her studies. Sarundana wants to go to university to become a psychologist.
